Shayne Shaw

Chartered Accountant

As a director of the firm Shayne is responsible for keeping the company moving forward, from business development to individual client development to rolling up his sleeves for the hands-on work that goes along with day to day operations.

Shayne’s vast work experience brings together a balance of both large and small business operations in accounting, finance and technology. Before starting his own business in public practice as a Chartered Accountant, he worked for several years in the banking industry, then for Deloitte, and later as a senior finance executive in a “Top 20″ New Zealand company where he lead a large finance support group. Following his passion for helping businesses to succeed, Shayne made the move back to the small to medium sized business sector where his experience and efforts are focused for the benefit of the clients he advises.

It was Shayne’s experience of both large and small business environments that inspires him to build an accounting firm that offers the industry’s highest level of personalised support while demystifying accounting, finance, and technology for small and medium sized businesses. He also regularly assists various school committees and community boards.

Shayne has a Bachelor of Commerce from Otago University and a post graduate honours degree in Accounting, Finance and Information Systems from Canterbury University. He is a also member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Malcolm Smart

Accountant

Malcolm started his own accounting practice in 1984 progressively expanding it until finally merging to form the business as it is today. Malcolm’s founding philosophy was to provide a more personal service which involved visiting clients & working on site to get to know the business first hand. This enabled better advice and solutions for clients issues. Existing client referrals were the main source of new clients which was indicative of the philosophy in place. These founding philosophies are continued in the ethos of the firm today.

Malcolm assists a diverse range of clients from various ethnic backgrounds. He enjoys assisting them with growing their business interests as well as attending to various Inland Revenue requirements. Malcolm has a wealth of experience in the retail and property industries, having owned a retail business, and has interests in property rental and developments.

Malcolm is a qualified accountant and a past member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. Staying fit and healthy is an important part of Malcolms life. He has competed in 2 world age group triathlon championships in recent years.

Mariana Ispas

Accountant

Mariana holds a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance, with over 22 years of experience; 11 years in chartered accountancy in Europe and since arriving in NZ in 2001 has worked in various accounting practices.

Managing clients accounting and taxation requirements efficiently and effectively is of central importance to Mariana. She brings to the group a professional and dedicated approach, providing a high level of integrity and commitment to clients financial affairs.

Travel is a favourite pastime for Mariana and she enjoys baking, reading a good book, and completing Sudoku puzzles. Other time is spent enjoying the company of family and friends and assisting the wider community.

Hilary Kay

Client Services

Hilary coordinates the projects that come into the firm, from the initial client contact to client satisfaction surveys. She thoroughly enjoys enjoys meeting and talking to people from all walks of life. Having worked within Chartered Accountancy practices for 9 years there is not much that Hilary cant handle. If she hasn’t got the answer for your question she will find the solution to resolve the issue. All your IRD and ACC queries can be dealt with efficiently and effectively by Hilary.

Having also spent time with a variety of non profit organisations she has a focus for a wide variety of everyday situations and the ability to assist with other issues that can arise from time to time. When not walking the port hills or enjoying the company of her friends, Hilary can be found enjoying a good book and a glass of wine.
